Shiseido Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara (#BK999 Black) Review

Mascara is sometimes all you need in your daily eye makeup routine, which is why I’m constantly on the hunt for a good one. I’ve always wanted Shiseido’s Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara mainly because of how pretty it is. I’ve also heard tales of how it’s AH-mazing, so I decided to try it out.

Fancy packaging

The Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara contains rich fiber content that promises to thicken, extend and maintain lashes all day. Its waterproof claim was to be tested against the hot and humid temperatures of Hong Kong and my sweaty face. Did it live up to its word?

The packaging in gold, black and pink makes it look really girly and pretty, perfect for me. The Baroquesque detailing is reminiscent of an antique stamp and adds an elegant touch.

The mascara includes moisturizing ingredients such as dipropylene glycol, cyclometicone and tocopheryl acetate. Also, emollients like macadamia ternifolia seed oil, sucrose tetraisostearate and triethylhaxanoin are present. However, several pigments used, like Carbon Black and CI 77266, may be irritants to some users.

How to use: Start at the roots and work your way outwards. Wiggle the wand side to side to really push the lashes into the brush for an even and thorough coat of mascara.

Upon pulling out the applicator, you can immediately notice the bristly texture of the brush. As I’ve mentioned before, it contains 5mm fibers. Not gonna lie, I thought it wasn’t going to go on well.

Left to right: No mascara, first coat, second coat

Thankfully, the mascara proved me wrong and I ended up feeling like an anime character straight from the 90s! My lashes were extended to the max y’all. The addition of those fibers certainly helped. After lathering on an excessive amount of mascara, it usually starts to feel stiff and heavy. Lash King didn’t have that weight despite having extra fibers, which was a pleasant surprise.

To my delight, the mascara dried pretty quickly – I’m not patient enough to wait for it to dry! Also, no more messes for those moments when you accidentally sneeze. I expected it to smudge a little but it held true to its waterproof word. The humid Hong Kong heat and my sweaty lids did nothing to it as far as I could tell.

This Shiseido mascara exceeded my expectations. Lashes were thick and dramatic as promised. However, because of the fibers, you do need to be careful during application, or it may look messy and unnatural. Comb your lashes afterwards with a mascara comb to remove excess formula and make it look smoother. Be sure to have a really strong makeup remover because the mascara is water, sweat and tear proof – all the proofs!

I love being extra so I’d wear this every day. BUT for the ladies who usually go for the no-makeup makeup look, I suggest you wear this instead for falsies as they’re easier to put on when it’s time to glam up.

Thinking twice about getting this product? She-says-do-it *wink wink*.
